De Bruijn does it again: Dinamo still stopped by Donk |

The last semi-final berth in Women`s LEN Trophy was taken by a famous name in a real thriller. The Dutch representative “Widex” GZC Donk Gouda, winner of the first two European Cup competitions, was already down by six goals in total, but still made it. Dutch Olympic hero Daniëlle de Bruijn scored six goals against the Russian representative Dinamo “Izmailovo” Moscow, when her team still made for the round of last four. The final score was 16-12 (4-6, 4-1, 5-3, 3-2) to Donk after a 9-12 loss in the Russian capital
The one and only Sunday match was played in front of full stands at De Peppel indoor-pool in Ede, which had been chosen by Donk as their European Cup exile. Here Dinamo was already leading 4-1 in opening period to take a six-goal lead in the aggregate. The score was 6-4 to the Muscovites after the opening period. But now head coach Arjan Vos´ players got in the match to lead by three goals before the final period, 13-10. Moscow scored the first two goals of the final period, 13-12, but the home team still stroke back by three unanswered gaols. Melissa Dongelmans scored Gouda´s 16th goal in the 31st minute, when her team achieved the first and decisive lead in the aggregate.
