Van Belkum to face Gouda in the LEN Trophy semi-finals

(Wolfgang Philipps) In the semi-finals of the Women´s LEN Trophy the Dutch representative “Widex” GZC Donk Gouda with Olympic top scorer Daniëlle de Bruijn is facing the Greek club Ethnikos Piraeus and their top Dutch top player Iefke von Belkum, LEN waterpolo player of the year 2009. Russian newcomer Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk from Siberia is facing a Greek club as well, NE Patras. The first leg matches will be held 20 or 21 February, the return matches 6 or 7 March.

Australia: Jets´ fire afterburners in final quarter for NWPL draw
In Australia the Fyfe Adelaide Jets men came from four down in the final quarter against Brisbane Barracudas to level their National Water Polo League match 9-all in Adelaide yesterday. Three down at the last break, the Jets were staring at a heavy defeat when Brisbane Matt Giles made it 9-5 a minute into the final period. However, four home goals, including the last from Nicholas Martin 37 seconds from the final siren, clinched an unexpected draw.» more

De Bruijn does it again: Dinamo still stopped by Donk
The last semi-final berth in Women`s LEN Trophy was taken by a famous name in a real thriller. The Dutch representative “Widex” GZC Donk Gouda, winner of the first two European Cup competitions, was already down by six goals in total, but still made it. Dutch Olympic hero Daniëlle de Bruijn scored six goals against the Russian representative Dinamo “Izmailovo” Moscow, when her team still made for the round of last four. Jets´ starting misfire proves fatal against Brisbane Barracudas
A four-goal deficit in the season´s first quarter proved fatal Fyfe Adelaide Jets men against Brisbane Barracudas in Adelaide. Australia last night. Adelaide´s season opening loss could be put down to poor conversion of the extra-man attack with six failed attempts as Brisbane slipped out to a healthy lead and on to a 14-8 victory. The goals started coming in the second quarter from the first attack and from then on the game was relatively even.» more
